DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today said BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia never left the country despite facing severe illness and political crisis.

"Begum Khaleda Zia is our inspiration. Despite so much sickness and crisis, she never abandoned the party and the country. She remained undeterred, and that is our pride," he said.

Rizvi made these remarks while addressing a prayer event organised by Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal in Naya Paltan seeking recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia.

Rizvi said Khaleda Zia had always guided party men during difficult times. "She showed us the way from darkness to light. She taught us how to hold our heads high in crisis, how to maintain restraint against opponents, and how to stay united even in turbulent times," he said.

Rizvi said a 'vengeful and autocratic' state apparatus was used to harass her, alleging a conspiracy behind her deteriorating health.

He also criticised ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, referring to recent reports of gold found in a bank vault and accusing her of corruption. He said Sheikh Hasina eventually fled after failing to weaken the country.

Rizvi stressed the need for a free and fair national election in February, before Ramadan.

"The people's right to choose their government must be ensured," he said, expressing confidence that the interim government would maintain neutrality and improve the situation created during Sheikh Hasina's tenure.

He added that millions of Bangladeshis 'love and pray' for Khaleda Zia, inspired by her patriotism and dedication to the nation.
