KHULNA, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) – Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former parliament member Mia Golam Parwar today said that the announcement of the election schedule marks a significant step toward fulfilling public expectations that emerged from the July–August mass uprising.

“The next major challenge,” he noted, “is to ensure that the upcoming national elections are free, fair, and transparent. All stakeholders—the Election Commission, the government, political parties, and the people—must collectively face and overcome this challenge.”

He made the remarks while offering condolences to the family of Sajib Roy, who died in a road accident, and visiting the injured Shimul Mondol, Tonoy Mondol, and Sagor Mondol at Madartala village under Sharafpur Union in Dumuria Upazila of Khulna-5 constituency this morning. He also provided financial assistance and inquired about their medical treatment during his mass outreach in the area.

Parwar said he bid farewell to “that Bangladesh” on August 5, 2024, referring to past elections in 2014, 2018, and 2024, in which, according to him, people were unable to exercise their voting rights.

“I am now working to make people aware. On behalf of Jamaat, we have formally informed the administration that a level playing field must be ensured,” he said.

Earlier, while addressing a voters’ gathering at Dakatia Pashchim Para in Shiromoni under Phultala Upazila, he said that since the mass uprising, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has emerged as one of the most trusted political parties among people of all religions and communities.

Highlighting incidents of repression against Hindu communities at different periods, Parwar said that for 54 years since independence, a certain political party used them merely as a vote bank.

“They took your votes, went to power, and then grabbed your land, farms, and houses, subjecting you to various forms of persecution,” he further alleged.

Presided over by Chittaranjan Gain, the programme was also addressed by Khulna District Jamaat Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretaries Munshi Moinul Islam and Prof. Mia Golam Kuddus, Principal Gawsul Azam Hadi, District Executive Council Member Hafiz Aminul Islam, and Advocate Abu Yusuf Molla, among others.
