JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Dec 19, 2025 (BSS) - Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan today said the nation has lost a visionary leader with the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a frontline leader of the July Mass Uprising.

The VC made the remarks in a condolence message issued by acting Director of the university's Public Relations Office Mohammad Mahiuddin this afternoon.

In the condolence message, he said the assassination of Hadi caused an irreparable loss to the country's political and democratic landscape, adding that his political vision against domination and aggression had inspired the nation. "Revolutionaries never truly die, his patriotism, values and work will continue to inspire us," the VC continued.

He urged all to remain united and take steadfast action to uphold democracy, justice and the rights of the people while conveying deep condolences to the bereaved family and praying for the eternal peace of Hadi's departed soul.

In honour of the July warrior's untimely death, Jahangirnagar University has declared Saturday a day of mourning and decided to fly the national flag at half-mast.

Earlier, after Jumu'ah prayers, special doa and supplications were offered for the soul of the martyred Osman Hadi at the university's central mosque and other mosques, while members of other religious communities also organised similar prayers at different places.
