DNCC names road after Ahmed Sofa

DHAKA, Dec 21, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has named a road after eminent think tank and writer Ahmed Sofa. 

The road from Uttara North Metro Rail Station to Mirpur Cantonment DOHS MP Check post has been named after 'Ahmed Sofa Sarani'.

The nameplate was unveiled this afternoon near the Uttara South Metro Rail Station.

Eminent scholar Professor Dr Salimullah Khan attended the programme as chief guest and recalled that Ahmed Sofa published the first book of the Liberation War named 'Jagrata Bangladesh' on July 28, 1971. 

He said the road naming reflects national recognition of Ahmed Sofa’s contributions.

DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz, who presided over the event, said the initiative aims to link urban development with the city’s history, culture and intellectual heritage.

Public health expert Jahirul Islam Kachi and Dhaka Stream Editor Golam Iftekhar Mahmud were present as special guests, among others.
