KHULNA, Dec 24 (BSS) - Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former lawmaker Mia Golam Parwar said today that a nation’s progress depends on the depth of its moral education.

“Many countries that gained independence after us have become developed simply by prioritising moral education,” he said, adding that institutional education without moral guidance cannot produce a truly complete human being.

Parwar was speaking as the chief guest at the annual examination results announcement and prize-giving ceremony organised by Al Hera Ideal Madrasa in Phultala Upazila, Khulna.

He said Bangladesh does not lack educated people; rather, it lacks individuals endowed with moral and ethical values.
“Due to the absence of morality and character, many highly educated individuals in top positions have siphoned off thousands of crores of taka abroad, turning the country into a hub of corruption,” he said.

He stressed that to build the nation, children must be raised as morally sound individuals in the light of the Quran and Sunnah, who reject corruption, dishonesty, interest, bribery, and immoral activities. “This can be best achieved through madrasa education,” he added.

Parwar also lamented that even after 54 years of independence, the country has failed to establish an education system capable of producing honest, competent, and skilled citizens simultaneously.

The programme was presided over by the madrasa’s founder director, Maulana Abdul Gafur. Khulna District Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary and former Phultala Upazila Parishad Vice-Chairman Principal Gawsul Azam Hadi, district working committee member Advocate Abu Yusuf Mollah, and Phultala Upazila Ameer Professor Abdul Alim Mollah attended as special guests.

Later, the chief guest and other dignitaries distributed prizes among meritorious students.

Earlier in the morning, Parwar also addressed an assembly organised by Khan Jahan Ali Thana Jamaat as the chief guest.
