DHAKA, Jan 08, 2026 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today ordered the attachment of land worth Taka 8.56 crore belonging to former Member of Parliament (MP) from Mymensingh-10 constituency Fahmi Gulandaz (Babel) over graft allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order, allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

According to the petition, Babel, while serving as an upazila parishad chairman and later as a member of parliament, abused his power and amassed wealth worth Taka 20.11 crore through bribery and corruption.

The petition also stated that abnormal transactions involving Taka 60.98 crore and USD 171,646 were conducted through 16 bank accounts in his name, knowingly transferring, converting and moving proceeds of crime.

The ACC filed a case in this connection and appointed an investigation officer to probe the allegations. During the investigation, reliable sources revealed that the accused was attempting to transfer or dispose of his immovable assets. To prevent the transfer or disposal of those assets, the ACC said that attachment of the immovable properties was urgently necessary.
