DMP files 2,173 cases against traffic rule violators

DHAKA, Jan 8, 2026 (BSS) - The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed a total of 2,173 cases against motor vehicles and drivers for violating traffic rules in the capital in the last 24 hours.

The DMP has been conducting regular drives against traffic violations to bring discipline and ensure proper management of the city's traffic system, said a press release issued by the DMP's Media and Public Relations Division today.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Talebur Rahman issued the release.

During the drive on January 7, the traffic division impounded 413 motor vehicles and immobilized 230 others for breaching traffic laws, the release said.

According to the DMP, different traffic divisions carried out the drive across the capital. Motijheel Traffic Division filed 292 cases, Wari Division 462 cases, Tejgaon Division 217 cases, Mirpur Division 400 cases, Gulshan Division 162 cases, Uttara Division 285 cases, Ramna Division 172 cases, and Lalbagh Division 183 cases against motor vehicles, three-wheelers, and motorcycles.

The DMP said the drive against traffic rule violations will continue to bring discipline to Dhaka's streets.
