DHAKA, Jan 18, 2026 (BSS) - The prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today filed formal charges against 28 people, including former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak and former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, for alleged crimes against humanity committed in Mohammadpur during the July Mass Uprising.

Confirming the development to newsmen, prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim said the tribunal is likely to hold a hearing on the matter later in the day.

The charges involve allegations of killings, repression and other serious abuses reportedly carried out in Mohammadpur during the uprising.

Prosecutors said they have specific evidence linking the accused to acts amounting to crimes against humanity, which the tribunal will now examine during judicial proceedings.
