ICT prosecution files formal charge against Shamim Osman, Ayon Osman, 10 others

DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - The prosecution of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today filed its formal charge in a case against 12, including former Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman, and his son Imtinan Osman Ayon alias Ayon Osman, for their alleged role in committing crimes against humanity in Narayanganj during the July Mass Uprising.
 
Confirming the development to newsmen, prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim stated that the formal charge was filed with the office of the ICT Registrar this morning, and the ICT-1 is likely to hold a hearing on the matter.
 
The first tribunal on October 12, 2025, had set January 11, 2026, for submitting the probe report in a case against Ayon Osman and seven others, lodged over crimes against humanity committed in Narayanganj during the July-August Mass Uprising.
 
According to the prosecution, former Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Shamim Osman and his cohorts committed crimes against humanity in Narayanganj during the July-August Mass Uprising. 

They carried out mass killings in an attempt to suppress the Mass Uprising, the prosecution said.
