Man held with counterfeit currency, tools in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 has arrested an alleged counterfeit currency maker along with counterfeit notes and tools from Rahmatchar Dakshinkani village under Pirgachha Police Station in the district.

"The arrestee was identified as Md Manik Mia, 28, son of Md Shamsul Haque of the same village," said a press release issued on Sunday by Senior Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-13, Additional Superintendent of Police Biplob Kumar Goswami.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-13 conducted a raid and arrested the man at around 3:30 pm on Sunday, recovering a large quantity of counterfeit currency notes along with various tools used for making fake notes.

The seized items include 17 counterfeit notes of Taka 500 denomination, 240 counterfeit notes of Taka 50 denomination, a laptop, keyboard, charger, mouse, multi-plug, USB hub, colour printer, laminating machine, hair dryer, oil paper, paper cutters, halogen light, glass board, six bottles of screen paint and glue, a 12-inch plastic scale, one ream of white paper and other materials.

A case has been filed in this connection, and the elite force handed over the arrested man along with the seized evidence to Kawnia Police Station for further legal action, the release added.
