
DHAKA, Jan 19, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 27 people within 24 hours during Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2 conducted by Bangshal, Kalabagan, Sher-e-Bangla and Mugda police stations across the capital.
The arrests were made on Sunday during day-long operations in various crime-prone areas.
Deputy Police Commissioner, Media and Public Relations Division, DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed the arrests.
Bangshal Police Station arrested four individuals, while Kalabagan Police Station also detained four. Sher-e-Bangla Police Station arrested three people, and Mugda Police Station arrested the highest number, 16 individuals.
Bangshal Police arrested Md. Mizanur Rahman (30), Md. Shahid Chan (55), Ranjit Kumar Sutradhar and Md. Zakir Hossain.
Kalabagan Police detained Md. Alif Chukder (19), Md. Emon (26), Ramzan (20) and Md. Zakaria Islam Agun (22).
Sher-e-Bangla Police arrested Md. Suef Hossain Saif (20), Md. Sajib Rahman (26) and Md. Mahbubur Rahman (30).
Meanwhile, Mugda Police arrested 16 people, including Shamsul Alam Kutty (32), Niyamul Huda Kakon (20), Md. Zahidul Islam (27), Md. Shamsul Alam (40), Md. Shakib Uddin (18), Rubel (18), Md. Billal Mia (36), Amir Hossain (42), Md. Sohag (35), Md. Chan Mia (35), Md. Alamgir (28), Ali Hossain (34), Md. Shahadat (28), Md. Maruf Hossain (30), Md. Nazir Hossain (35) and Md. Emon (21).
Police said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and maintain law and order in the capital.
All arrested individuals have been sent to the court.
