DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the attachment of several immovable properties of Jahangir Alam, also known as ‘Pani Jahangir’, a former personal assistant (PA) to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and froze seven bank accounts of his wife Kamrun Nahar.
The properties include 35 decimals of land in Noakhali and a 1,385 SQF flat in the capital’s Mirpur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the orders, allowing two separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to one petition, the ACC filed a case as Jahangir Alam amassed assets worth Taka 18.29 crore beyond his known sources of income and made suspicious transactions of Taka 626.65 crore through 23 bank accounts in his own name and in the names of his institutions.
The case is now under investigation, and the ACC sought attachment of his immovable properties, citing the risk of transfer or change of ownership that could hamper a fair probe.
Kamrun Nahar, on the other hand, allegedly acquired assets worth Taka 6.80 crore beyond her known source of income.
Despite being a housewife, with the help of her husband Jahangir Alam, she opened seven savings and DPS accounts across four branches of two banks, depositing Taka 5.96 crore and later withdrew or transferred the funds.
The ACC filed the case, which is under investigation, and noted that the movable assets in her name, including bank balances, may be transferred or altered.
In the interest of a fair investigation, freezing of her movable assets is deemed necessary, the plea added.
