
RANGPUR, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) – Officials at the ‘Voting Rickshaw’ campaign launching ceremony have said that the referendum and the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Election, 2026 is a historic moment for democracy and the nation.
They made the observation at the launching function of the campaign in Rangpur district on the occasion of the upcoming referendum and the 13th JS Election, 2026, to motivate voters and increase public awareness today.
The Rangpur Information Office has been organising the campaign as a part of the nationwide programme centrally launched by Adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Syeda Rizwana Hasan at Savar in Dhaka today.
As part of one of the promotional activities of the Department of Mass Communication, this rickshaw campaign initiative will play an important role in creating awareness about the JS election and referendum among every person at the city and upazila levels.
Director of the Divisional Information Office Dr Md Mofakkharul Iqbal inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest by cutting ribbon and sending eight rickshaws to all eight upazilas with one each in every upazila of the district.
Assistant Director of Rangpur District Information Office Md Alamgir Kabir, its Assistant Information Officer Tania Tajneen Memi and Assistant Information Officer of Rangpur Regional Information Office Ayesha Siddika and employees of Rangpur Divisional Information Office were present at this time.
The speakers said that the rickshaws started carrying out voter motivation activities for the upcoming referendum and the 13th JS Election in each upazila from today.
At this important time, they said that the referendum and the 13th JS Election, 2026 is a historic moment for democracy and the voting rickshaws would deliver the message of democracy to the doorsteps of the people.
In his speech, Dr Md Mofakkharul Iqbal said that voting is not just a right, it is a tool to strengthen civic responsibility and democracy.
