Jamaat reiterates support for NCP candidate in Ctg-8 constituency

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 21, 2026 (BSS) – Jamaat-e-Islami today reiterated its support for the NCP candidate in the Chattogram-8 (Chandgaon–Boalkhali) constituency in line with the decision of the 10-party electoral alliance.

Assistant Secretary of Chattogram City Jamaat Morshedul Islam Chowdhury announced the party’s stance at a press conference held at the city Jamaat office today.

He said the Jamaat candidate, Dr Abu Naser, was unable to formally withdraw his nomination on the final day of withdrawal as he was in Dhaka at the time.

In a written statement, Morshedul Islam Chowdhury said Jamaat, following its central decision, is supporting the NCP candidate in the interest of the alliance. He added that Dr Abu Naser could not attend the press conference due to illness.

He reiterated that Jamaat’s support for the NCP candidate remains intact.

Ameer of the city Jamaat Nazrul Islam and Ameer of South District Jamaat Anwarul Alam Chowdhury were present at the event.
