BGB deployed in Mirpur to ensure law and order during election campaigns

DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Mirpur, Dhaka, to maintain law and order amid ongoing election campaigns by political parties. 

The deployment aims to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure a peaceful environment as campaign activities intensify in the area, according to a short message service of the force.

According to officials, BGB personnel will work alongside the police and other law enforcement agencies to conduct patrols, monitor gatherings, and respond quickly to any disturbances.

 Authorities said the move was taken as a precautionary measure to uphold public safety and protect voters, candidates, and campaign workers.

Residents have been urged to cooperate with law enforcement and report any suspicious activities. 

The administration reiterated its commitment to ensuring that election campaigns are conducted peacefully in accordance with the law.
