
DHAKA, Jan 22, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) today held breast cancer screening camp for its female members and families free of cost.
Director General of Department of Health Education Professor Dr Nazmul Hossain addressed the inaugural ceremony of the camp as the chief guest, while President of Jatiya Press Club and Editor of Daily Kaler Kantho Poet Hasan Hafiz, former president of Bangladesh Private Medical College Association and Managing Director of International Medical College and Hospital MA Mubin Khan and Project Coordinator of Gonoshasthaya Community based Cancer Hospital and Professor of Preventive Oncology Department Professor Dr Habibullah Talukder Raskin delivered speeches as special guests.
Besides, former president of DRU Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo, office secretary Rashim Mollah, information technology and training secretary Mahmud Sohel and former women's affairs secretary Rozina Rosi also spoke.
General Secretary of DRU Mainul Hasan Sohel moderated the event, while vice president Mehdi Azad Masum chaired it. Women's affairs secretary of DRU Jannatul Ferdous Panna delivered the welcome speech at the programme.
An article titled 'Screening and awareness are essential to protect against the risk of death from breast cancer' written by former DRU’s women affairs secretary Sumi Khan was read out.
Joint secretary Md Zafar Iqbal, publicity and publications secretary Mizan Chowdhury, entertainment secretary Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, welfare secretary Rafiq Mridha, executive member Mohammad Naimuddin, editor of daily Bangladesher Alo Mofizur Rahman Babu, among others, were present.
