DHAKA, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Gulshan Division organized a one-minute symbolic silence programme titled “No Horn, No Dust” today to promote awareness about noise pollution and road cleanliness.

The programme was held at the Gulshan-2 intersection at 4:20 in the afternoon.

As part of the initiative, traffic signals at the busy crossing were kept red for one minute in all four directions—north, south, east and west. During this time, drivers were requested to step out of their vehicles and observe a minute of silence.

Responding spontaneously, drivers participated in the programme and stood holding placards reading “No Horn, No Dust,” demonstrating their support for the awareness campaign.

The initiative was jointly undertaken by the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and the Traffic Gulshan Division to discourage unnecessary honking and ensure cleaner roads across the Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara and Niketan areas.

Officials said the one-minute silence was a symbolic gesture aimed at creating awareness among motorists and the general public about reducing noise pollution and maintaining a dust-free environment.

Gulshan Division Traffic Deputy Commissioner Mizanur Rahman Shelly was present at the event, along with other concerned officers and around 150 traffic assistants, who helped ensure the smooth conduct of the programme were present.

Authorities expressed hope that such initiatives would encourage responsible driving behavior and contribute to a healthier and more livable urban environment.
