DHAKA, Jan 29, 2026 (BSS) - Islami Andolan Bangladesh (IAB) Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, popularly known as the Charmonai Pir, today said Islam is a proven system of governance for all oppressed and disadvantaged people, including minorities.

He said, "In more than 54 years since independence, the state run under the existing laws and has failed to ensure the security of minorities and instead turned them into political tools. But Islam offers a proved and practical system to governance to ensure the rights of all including the people from other religions."

The Islami Andolan Ameer made the remarks while addressing roadside meetings and election campaigns in different constituencies of Lalmonirhat and Rangpur in northern part of the country today.

Charmonai Pir said, "The existing state system and laws have transformed the state itself into an instrument of oppression rather than protecting the weak and oppressed."

He said "Current system of the country has turned Bangladesh into a source of profit for a handful of people instead of a genuine citizens' state."

Referring to the July Uprising of 2024, he said students and masses sacrificed their lives, shed blood and many became disabled or blind to overthrow the old system.

"To realise that spirit, Islami Andolan Bangladesh is presenting Islam as an alternative system of state governance," he added.

Calling on voters to support his party, Charmonai Pir urged people to vote for the 'Hand Fan' symbol to erase 54 years of failure and build a dream Bangladesh.

He also said Islamic politics does not suit those who are afraid to present Islam as a principle of state governance in a country.

Party Presidium Member and Central Election Steering Committee Convener Professor Mahbubur Rahman, Central Secretary General of the Islami Students' Movement Sultan Ahmed, and other central and local leaders addressed the rallies.
