After completing nine days of remand in two phases, police produced him before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court today.

As Rubel voluntarily agreed to give a confessional statement admitting his involvement in the incident, the investigating officer applied to record it.

In response to the application, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Ismail recorded his statement. After recording the confession, the court ordered that he be sent to jail.

Deputy Commissioner (DC-Prosecution) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Prosecution Division, Mia Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan, confirmed the matter to BSS.

Earlier, on January 22, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam granted him six days of remand. On January 28, she granted a second phase of three days' remand.

On December 12, 2025, at around 2:20 pm, miscreants shot Osman Hadi on Box Culvert Road under Paltan Police Station while he was returning home after Jumma prayers, and then fled the scene.

In this connection, on December 14, Inquilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed a case with Paltan Police Station.

Charges were brought under sections 120(B)/326/307/109/34 of the Penal Code. Although the injured Osman Hadi was taken to Singapore for advanced treatment, he died while undergoing treatment on December 18.
