
RAJSHAHI, Jan 31, 2026 (BSS) - A two-day Ninth Science Festival, organized by the Rajshahi College Science Club, began today at the historic Rajshahi College playground.
At the fair, students from primary, secondary and college levels from different institutions in the city are showcasing their innovative ideas and projects related to science and technology.
The festival was inaugurated this morning, with Professor B. M. Abdul Hannan, Acting Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, attending as the chief guest. The programme was presided over by the Principal of Rajshahi College, Professor Dr Md Ibrahim Ali.
Among others present at the inaugural ceremony were Vice Principal Professor Abu Md Yunus Ali, science fair convener Professor Md Alauddin, and Literature and Cultural Committee convener Professor Dr Shikha Sarkar. Heads of various departments, teachers, officials, students of the college, as well as students and guardians from different educational institutions, also attended the event.
Professor Abdul Hannan formally inaugurated the festival by hoisting the national flag and releasing balloons.
Speaking on the occasion, he said there is no alternative to science education for keeping pace with the modern world.
In his address, Principal Professor Dr Md Ibrahim Ali emphasized that students must focus more on science education to build a modern, technology-driven country. He expressed gratitude to the young scientists participating in the festival and thanked everyone involved in organizing and attending the event.
