DHAKA, Feb 7, 2026 (BSS) –Dr. M. A. Kaiyum, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) candidate for Dhaka-11 and former founding president of BNP Dhaka North unit, has said that the people’s right to vote has been denied for the past 17 years.
Speaking at an election campaign programme in Fakirkhali area today, he said the past 17-year-period saw governments without the mandate of the people, resulting in a lack of tangible development in the constituency.
“Roads, education, healthcare and employment have all been neglected,” he added.
M. A. Kaiyum described Fakirkhali as a BNP stronghold, noting that the residents have always supported the party whenever given the chance to vote.
“This time, people can advance Fakirkhali on the path of development by voting for the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol,” he said.
He promised that if BNP comes to power, fundamental rights will be restored alongside ensuring comprehensive development of the area.
Urging voters to cast their votes on February 12, he said, “Your single vote can help end drugs, terrorism and extortion in the area.”
Also BNP’s Secretary for Microcredit Affairs, he stressed unity to ensure the overall development of Fakirkhali ignoring political discontent.
