
PANCHAGARH, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - NCP chief organiser for the northern region and Jamaat-led alliance candidate for Panchagarh-1 constituency Sarjis Alam today cast his vote at Bamankumar Rakhaldebi Hutt Adarsho High School polling centre.
His father Akhtaruzzaman and brother Shahadat Hossain Shakib also cast their votes with him. They came to the centre premises together and remained for a short while.
Voter presence at the centre was noticeable from early morning.
Sarjis Alam exchanged greetings with voters outside the centre. Later, he entered the centre and cast his vote.
After casting his ballot, Sarjis said, "We cast our vote today with the hope of a new democracy... hopefully we will finally get a fair election. Let us have faith in the people's votes and opinions. Let a fair, transparent and impartial environment be maintained in every voting centre. We expect the highest professional behavior from all those involved in voting - presiding officers, assistant presiding officers, assistant returning officers, returning officers, and members of the law enforcement agencies."
Six more candidates, including BNP-nominated candidate Barrister Naushad Zamir, are contesting Panchagarh-1 constituency.
According to official sources, Panchagarh district consists of two constituencies. Voting is being held in a total of 286 polling centres in this district.
The total number of voters in Panchagarh-1 constituency is 458,807, while the number of voters in Panchagarh-2 constituency is 414,356.
