JU NTF greets Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, new cabinet

JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY, Feb 18, 2026 (BSS) - The Nationalist Teachers' Forum of Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Tuesday night congratulated newly appointed Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his cabinet.

In a congratulatory message signed by NTF President Prof Dr Md Shamsul Alam and General Secretary Prof Md Jamal Uddin, the forum expressed hope that the new government would reflect people's aspirations, democratic values and development expectations, adding that an inclusive political culture and strengthened good governance would be established under his leadership.

The forum said it expects the government to formulate a clear roadmap for improving higher education, increase investment in research, ensure academic freedom for teachers and students and take effective steps to build an internationally standard higher education framework.

It also said building a modern state requires political wisdom and economic vision alongside the development of a knowledge-based society, expressing optimism that maintaining a balance among education, democracy and development would further strengthen the country's future progress.

The teachers' body wished good health, wisdom and success to the prime minister and members of the new cabinet.
