CHATTOGRAM, Feb 17, 2026 (BSS) - The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against 10 individuals for allegedly evading duty of Tk 38.86 crore by importing tiles under a bond facility and falsifying export documents.

The case was lodged at the ACC's Chattogram Integrated District Office-1 by Dheeraj Chandra Barman, Assistant Director of the Dhaka Integrated District Office-1. Subel Ahmed, Deputy Director of the ACC's Chattogram office, confirmed that the case involves officials from Bangladesh-Taiwan Ceramic Industries Limited.

The accused are alleged to have avoided paying duties by importing tiles from China under a bond facility and misrepresenting export documents at the Chattogram Customs House.

Bangladesh-Taiwan Ceramic Industries Limited, based in Narayanganj district, obtained a bond license in 2013 for exporting ceramic tiles. Between 2013 and September 2017, the company imported 22,943.65 metric tons of tiles, falsely declaring them as 'unfinished.' A Customs investigation, however, revealed that the tiles were fully manufactured.

Although the company was required to process and export all imported tiles, it only submitted documents for 80 bills out of 62 and claimed to have exported the tiles and received payments. Verification by off-dock authorities and shipping agents, however, confirmed that no exports took place. The submitted bills of lading were also found to be fraudulent.
