DHAKA, Feb 20, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sazzat Ali has urged business leaders to keep the prices of essential commodities at a tolerable level during the holy month of Ramadan.
He made this call while briefing journalists at Moulvibazar under Chawkbazar Police Station this afternoon.
The DMP Commissioner said that alongside keeping commodity prices under control during Ramadan, no adulteration of food products should be allowed.
Ali emphasized that all concerned must remain vigilant and careful to prevent any unethical practices in the market.
Addressing business leaders, he urged them to extend full cooperation when magistrates from the Directorate of National Consumers' Rights Protection conduct market monitoring drives.
Such cooperation, he said, would help ensure transparency and maintain fair prices in the marketplace.
Seeking the active support of the business community, the DMP Commissioner expressed hope that joint efforts would contribute to market stability and protect consumers' interests during Ramadan.
Among others present at the briefing were DMP Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md. Nazrul Islam, leaders of the Moulvibazar Businessmen's Association, representatives of the Directorate of National Consumers' Rights Protection, police officials of various ranks, and journalists from electronic and print media outlets.
