DHAKA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS)- Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) today paid deep tribute to the Army officers who were killed in the 2009 mutiny at the then Bangladesh Rifles (now Border Guard Bangladesh) headquarters in Pilkhana.

Marking the National Shahid Sena Dibash, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju and Secretary General Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, in a joint statement today said the Pilkhana massacre remains a dark chapter in the nation’s history.

“Fifty-seven meritorious and patriotic army officers, who were on duty after taking oath to protect the country were brutally killed in the incident, plunging the entire nation into deep shock and grief,” the statement said.

They said the day is not only a day of remembrance but also a day of self-reflection and renewed commitment.

The leaders called for building a just, accountable and discrimination-free state system, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of the martyrs.

Referring to the investigation commission’s report, the AB Party leaders claimed that the Pilkhana killings were carried out through conspiracy involving the then government and both domestic and foreign actors.

They stressed the need for full disclosure of the truth, bringing the actual perpetrators to justice and undertaking necessary institutional reforms to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.

In the statement, the AB Party leaders prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyred army officers and expressed deep sympathy for their bereaved family members.
