DHAKA, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - Traffic movement on several important roads in the capital will be temporarily diverted from 8:00am to 11:00am tomorrow (Thursday) on the occasion of first session of the National Parliament.

According to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), the President, Prime Minister, Members of Parliament, foreign diplomats, leaders of various political parties and other distinguished guests will attend the session at the National Parliament Building.

Due to this, a larger number of vehicles than usual are expected to move through areas including Manik Mia Avenue, Urojahaj Mor, Khejur Bagan, Asad Gate and the July Memorial Museum (Gana Bhaban) intersections.

To manage the temporary congestion, the Traffic Division will implement diversion measures on the day.

According to the DMP statement, the following diversion will have to be enforced.

1. Indira Road to Begum Rokeya Sarani:

Vehicles heading towards Begum Rokeya Sarani from Indira Road via Urojahaj Mor will not be allowed to take a right turn. Instead, they will proceed straight through Manik Mia Avenue and reach their destination via Mirpur Road.

2. Manik Mia Avenue to Begum Rokeya Sarani:

Vehicles heading towards Begum Rokeya Sarani from Manik Mia Avenue via Khejur Bagan will not be allowed to take a left turn. They will have to reach their destination via Farmgate.

In addition, from Urojahaj Mor to Khejur Bagan, vehicles will move in a southbound one-way direction on both sides of the road.

The DMP has specially requested all drivers to follow these instructions from 8:00am to 11:00am on Thursday to avoid traffic congestion and sought full cooperation of the residents of the capital to this end.
