DHAKA, April 16, 2026 (BSS) - World Haemophilia Day will be observed tomorrow across the country, as elsewhere, with various programmes.

This year’s theme, “Diagnosis: First step to care”, highlights the critical importance of diagnosis—the essential first step in treatment and care.

Marking the day, a colourful awareness procession was held on the premises of Bangladesh Medical University here today at the initiative of the Hemophilia Society of Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Department of Haematology of Bangladesh Medical University.

The procession started from Battala of BMU and ended in front of D Block.

BMU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr FM Siddiqui was present as the chief guest at the procession.

In his speech, he said that although haemophilia is a long-term bleeding disorder, patients can lead a normal life if timely and accurate diagnosis and integrated treatment are ensured.

He urged all concerned to work together to raise public awareness about the disease so that proper treatment and services can be ensured for haemophilia patients.

BMU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar and Registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam, among others, were present at the event.

Later, the cover of the book titled ‘National Guidelines for Management of Haemophilia’ was unveiled.
