DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS): The High Court (HC) has directed the Election Commission (EC) to accept the nomination paper of National Citizen Party (NCP) leader Nusrat Tabassum for the reserved women’s seat election to the Jatiya Sangsad and take necessary steps in accordance with the law.

The High Court division bench of Justice Ahmed Sohel and Justice Fatema Anwar passed the order along with a rule after hearing a writ petition filed by Nusrat Tabassum challenging the EC’s decision to cancel her nomination.

Advocates Mohammad Hossain Lipu, Md Moniruzzaman, and Zahirul Islam Musa appeared for the petitioner in the court.

Earlier, the Election Commission (EC) cancelled Nusrat Tabassum’s nomination for the reserved women’s seat on April 22, after she submitted her nomination paper 19 minutes past the deadline.
