Bangladesh, Switzerland discuss trade, investment cooperation

DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh and Switzerland today discussed 
expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, alongside a range of 
priority sectors, during a meeting held at the Foreign Ministry.

The talk was held when Swiss Ambassador to Bangladesh Reto Renggli paid a 
call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the ministry, 
said a foreign ministry's press release here. 

The state minister acknowledged Switzerland's longstanding development 
cooperation and its continued support for Bangladesh's socio-economic 
progress.

The two sides also explored opportunities to enhance collaboration in 
pharmaceuticals, skills development, education, culture and sports, women's 
empowerment and people-to-people contacts.

Both sides noted that the sixth Bangladesh-Switzerland Foreign Office 
Consultations, scheduled to be held in Dhaka on June 1, 2026, would help 
elevate the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.

The envoy congratulated the state minister on assuming office and expressed 
optimism that Bangladesh-Switzerland relations would be further strengthened 
in the coming years.
