
DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh today conveyed a message of solidarity to Saudi Arabia during the current Middle East crisis, while expressing interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in economy and energy sectors.
It was expressed when Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir met Saudi Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Eng Waleed Abdulkareem El Khureiji in Riyadh.
During the meeting, Kabir, acting as special envoy of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, handed over a message of solidarity from the prime minister addressed to Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The adviser said the government and people of Bangladesh stand firmly beside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during this critical period in the Middle East.
He also expressed Bangladesh's keen interest in further strengthening and diversifying bilateral relations by exploring new avenues of cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy and energy.
Kabir further conveyed the prime minister's invitation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty the King, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Bangladesh at their convenience.
The Saudi vice minister warmly welcomed the Bangladesh envoy and expressed his government's appreciation for Bangladesh's support during the critical time in the region.
