Durgapur Women’s College delegation meets Deputy Speaker

DHAKA, April 27, 2026 (BSS)- A 13-member delegation of teachers and students of Durgapur Women’s Degree College of Netrakona district made a courtesy call on Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Barrister Kayser Kamal at his office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today, said a press release.

During the meeting, the Deputy Speaker exchanged pleasantries and inquired about the well-being of the visitors of the college which is situated in his constituency.

Kayser Kamal said the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban is one of the most aesthetic modern architecture in South Asia. The building was designed by world-renowned American architect Louis I. Kahn.

He also highlighted that the Parliament Library preserves rare collections, including century-old books, important documents, records dating back to 1937, and various archives from the Pakistan era. Many researchers from home and abroad visit the library for academic purposes, he said.

Addressing the students, the Deputy Speaker said they are the future leaders of the nation and will play a vital role in running the country. 

“Future leaders of the country and doctors, engineers, lawyers, and members of parliament will be created from you. So, you must pursue your studies with dedication and perseverance and prepare yourselves to be leader of future,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker expressed hope that the construction of the college hostel would be completed soon. 
He stressed the importance of developing the institution as a model educational institution, noting that infrastructure development alone is not sufficient. 

Barrister Kayser Kamal underscored the need for improving the quality of education, encouraging participation in co-curricular activities, and fostering multi-dimensional talents. He added that steps would be taken to recruit more teachers for the college.

The teachers and students expressed gratitude to the Deputy Speaker for arranging their tour at the parliament building. 

They expressed their happiness for having the opportunity to visit the parliament building, library, Prime Minister’s Office in the parliament, various VIP offices as well as parliamentary proceedings live.
