
DHAKA, April, 28, 2026 (BSS) - Shaikh Rabiul Alam, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping, was born on January 18 in 1969 in Khulna into a respected Muslim family. He is the son of Sheikh Lokman Hakim and Achia Begum.
In his academic life, he completed his Master’s degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka.
In his political career, Shaikh Rabiul Alam was elected as a Member of Parliament from Dhaka-10 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election. On February 17, 2026, he took oath as Minister for the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping. Moreover, he is currently a member of the BNP National Executive Committee and serves as a special assistant to the Chairman’s Foreign Policy Advisory Committee of BNP.
Close to politics, Shaikh Rabiul Alam is a successful entrepreneur and an established businessman. He is also a media personality. He regularly participates in television discussions on politics, economics, social and global contemporary issues, where he provides important and well-regarded opinions.
He is a distinguished patron of education and a social worker, involved with numerous educational and social welfare institutions and organizations. To support the talent and young students through incentives and financial assistance, he founded an organization called “Amra Ko Jon.”
In his personal life, Shaikh Rabiul Alam is married to Bokul Akter. The couple has one daughter and one son.
