Convening committee of power sector diploma engineers' federation formed

DHAKA, May 02, 2026 (BSS) - A 31-member convening committee of Bangladesh Power Sector Diploma Engineers' Federation was formed today with Md Mir Hossain Patwari as convener and Md Rezaul Karim as member secretary. 

"The committee was formed to realize demands and protect professional rights of diploma engineers working in power generation, transmission and distribution," according to a press release.

It said the committee was formed at a joint meeting held at Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), chaired by executive engineer of Northern Electricity Supply PLC (NESCO) AKM Morshedul Alam. Sub Assistant Engineer of Power Grid Bangladesh PLC (PGCB) Md Aminul Islam moderated it.

The convening committee was formed in presence of representatives and leaders of the Power Development Board (PDB), Power Grid PLC (PGCB), Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO), NESCO, West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited (WCPDC), Ashuganj Power Generation Company Limited (APGCL), Electricity Generation Company Bangladesh Limited (EGCB), Rural Power Company Limited (RPCL), Bangladesh Electrification Board (BREB), Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS), Coal Power Generation Company Limited (CPGCL), BR Power Generation Limited.

Other office bearers are senior joint convener Engineer ASM Rezzakul Haider, senior joint member secretary Engineer Md Aminul Islam and member Engineer Md Obaidul Alam.

The committee will work in a coordinated manner to establish various professional demands of diploma engineers, as it will play a strong role in eliminating the instability and irregularities prevailing in the power sector. 

Besides, the committee will formulate a constitution and form a full-fledged committee within the next 3 months.
