SAVAR, May 17, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque today said the youth are the main driving force of national development as they carry forward the spirit of the 1971 Liberation War to turn national aspirations into reality.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the "Jahangirnagar University Model United Nations Conference 2026" held at the National Youth Development Institute auditorium in Savar.

The event was organised by students of Jahangirnagar University to enhance young participants' skills in global leadership, diplomacy and international negotiation.

The minister said conferences like this help students better understand how Bangladesh can effectively present its position and capabilities in international forums, including the United Nations and its agencies.

He expressed hope that such initiatives would help develop leadership qualities among youth and contribute to national progress.

Highlighting government efforts, he said various training programmes are being implemented through youth development institutions to create employment opportunities both at home and abroad.

The ceremony was attended by students, teachers and participants from different universities.
