
DHAKA, June 4, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Bank (BB) has expressed profound grief and sorrow at the untimely demise of Additional Director of the Accounts and Budgeting Department-1, Md Shahnewaz Murad, who passed away following a heart attack at a city hospital.
According to a press release issued by the central bank today, Murad breathed his last at Ibrahim Cardiac Hospital and Research Institute in Dhaka at 10:36 pm on May 27.
He was 43.
The Governor of Bangladesh Bank, along with officials and employees across all levels of the institution, mourned his death and conveyed heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family members.
They also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Born on December 31, 1982, in Bhola district, he completed his MSc from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in 2007 and later earned a Professional Masters in Banking and Finance from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, in 2013.
During his distinguished career, he served in several important departments of Bangladesh Bank.
Beyond his official responsibilities, Murad actively contributed to employee welfare and organizational activities.
He leaves behind his wife, a senior official of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), one daughter, three sons, relatives, colleagues and numerous well-wishers.
