CTTC arrest six drug dealers with 19 kg marijuana in city

DHAKA, June 05, 2026 (BSS) – Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) have arrested six drug dealers with 19 kilograms of marijuana (Ganja) from the Mohammadpur area in the capital.  

The arrestees were identified as Md Chan Mia (35), Md Wasim (33), Md Rakibul Islam alias Rakib (20), Taslima Begum (35), Jannat Akhter (19) and Kajal Begum (26), according to a press release issued by the media and public relations division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) here today.

The release said that police sent them before the court after conducting necessary legal procedure.

According to CTTC sources, a CTTC team conducted a raid at a house in Mohammadpur police station area on Thursday (June 4) at about 11:00 pm and arrested them. 

The law enforcement agency also recovered 19 kg of marijuana from them during the operation, it said.

The CTTC sources also said that the drug dealers used to collect marijuana from various places including Brahmanbaria and supplied those to Dhaka and surrounding areas for long time.

The release said that CTTC members carried out the operation based on confidential information and seized the drugs.
