DHAKA, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2 will pronounce judgment any day in a case against four persons, including Awami League joint general secretary Md Mahbubul Alam Hanif, in a case lodged over the killings of six people in Kushtia during the July-August Mass Uprising in 2024.

The second tribunal kept the judgment on CAV, curia advisory vult (a Latin legal term meaning the court awaits judgment), today as the prosecution and defence completed their arguments in the case.

Earlier, the prosecution concluded their legal arguments in the case on June 7, pleading for maximum punishment for the four accused. The defence later placed their arguments till today.

A total of 19 prosecution witnesses, including the investigation officer testified in the case on different hearing dates.

The tribunal on November 2, 2025, indicted the accused, framing three specific charges against Hanif, Kushtia district Awami League president Sadar Uddin Khan, general secretary Azgar Ali and Kushtia city Awami League general secretary Ataur Rahman Khan Ata.

All the four accused are yet to be arrested and are being tried in absentia.

The ICT-2 on October 6 took the formal charge filed in the case into cognizance. It also issued arrest warrant against the fugitive accused on that day.
