NATORE, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) and lawmaker from Natore-2 constituency Adv M Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu today said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the country will move towards a 'green revolution' as the government has launched a program to plant 250 million trees in the next five years.

Addressing a distribution ceremony as the chief guest, at the Naldanga Upazila Parishad premises, Dulu made the remarks while distributing tree saplings and agricultural support materials including transplanted Aman rice seeds, fertilizers under an incentive program and air-flow machines among the marginal farmers.

There is no alternative to afforestation for maintaining the environmental balance and addressing the adverse impacts of climate change, he said and stressed that tree-planting initiatives should not remain confined to government institutions alone. He called for active participation from individuals and organizations alike.

“To ensure the successful implementation of the afforestation program, everyone must play an active role in building a livable Bangladesh,” he said.

The event was chaired by Naldanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Al Emran Khan. Upazila Agriculture Officer Sabuj Ali delivered the welcome address.

Later, the Whip attended a similar program at the Natore Sadar Upazila Parishad where he distributed tree saplings, seeds and fertilizers under agricultural incentive schemes among the beneficiaries.
