Padma Bridge authority collects Tk 3,429cr in tolls

DHAKA, June 30, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Bridge Authority has collected over Tk 3,429 crore in tolls from the Padma Bridge since until June 29, 2026.

“The toll was collected from 2,68,62,808 vehicles that crossed the Padma Bridge from both ends,” according to a press release issued here today.

The Bridge Authority and the Finance Division signed an agreement for the construction of the Padma Bridge over the River Padma. According to the agreement, there is an obligation to repay a total of Tk 36,000 crore within 35 years at one percent interest.

The Padma Bridge was built at a cost of Tk 30,770 crore with funding from the Bangladesh government’s own resources and was opened to traffic on June 26, 2022.
