8 more children die with measles symptoms

DHAKA, July 16, 2026, (BSS) - Eight more children have died with symptoms of measles across the country in the last 24 hours. 

According to a press release issued today by the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), eight children died with symptoms of measles during the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths with measles symptoms to 684 between March 15 and July 16.

No death from confirmed measles was reported during the past 24 hours. From March 15 to July 16, a total of 95 people have died from confirmed measles.

The release said the number of suspected measles cases recorded during the past 24 hours was 974, bringing the total number of suspected cases to 115,138 from March 15 to July 16. During the past 24 hours, 197 confirmed measles cases were reported, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 14,104 since March 15.

From March 15 to July 16, a total of 97,819 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 94,275 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals.
