DHAKA, Aug 4, 2026 (BSS) - Attorney General Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazol
today paid floral tributes and offered prayers at the graves of former
President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia,
accompanied by the newly appointed deputy and assistant attorney generals.
The Attorney General visited the mausoleum complex at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in
the capital this afternoon, where he along with the other law officers placed
floral wreaths at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia. They later
offered prayers for the departed souls of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and
Arafat Rahman Koko.
Additional Attorney Generals Mohammad Arshadur Rouf and Barrister Aneek R
Haque, along with the newly appointed deputy attorney generals and assistant
attorney generals, were present at the time.
Speaking to reporters after the prayers, the Attorney General said lawyers
witness every day the contributions made by Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia to
the country's legal system, constitution, democracy and human rights.
He said Khaleda Zia had made the greatest contribution to ensuring an
independent judiciary in Bangladesh and added that the law officers would
remain committed to democracy, human rights, justice and professionalism by
following the principles and ideals upheld by the two leaders.
