NAOGAON, Aug 9, 2026 (BSS) - The government is working with transparency to 
improve the living standards of indigenous communities and there will be no 
gap between government allocations and the benefits received by intended 
beneficiaries, said Naogaon-1 lawmaker Mostafizur Rahman.

"Full transparency must be ensured in all development activities," he said 
while addressing a discussion and cultural programme marking International 
Indigenous Peoples Day at the District Council Auditorium here at 11am today.

As the chief guest, Mostafizur said the government, under the leadership of 
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has been continuously working to improve the 
living standards of marginalized, indigenous and disadvantaged people across 
the country.

"Indigenous communities are bearers of Bangladesh's heritage and identity. 
Despite adverse circumstances, they have been contributing courageously to 
the development of the country and society," he said.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is providing educational stipends to students 
to ensure that children from indigenous communities do not remain deprived of 
educational opportunities, he added.

Mostafizur also praised indigenous women for their hard work, saying they 
complete household chores in the morning before leaving for agricultural 
work.

Subol, former senior vice-president of the Niamatpur Upazila Indigenous 
Branch, chaired the programme while its general secretary Ajit Munda 
conducted the event.

Among others, Niamatpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rezaul Karim, 
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Niamatpur Police Station Mahbubur Rahman, Upazila 
Agriculture Officer Rafiqul Islam, Niamatpur Upazila BNP Vice-President 
Sazzad Ali Titu, Mostafizur Rahman's wife Farida Begum and leaders and 
activists of indigenous organisations attended the programme.
