DHAKA, Aug 11, 2026 (BSS) – Police today arrested four people allegedly linked to the Awami League and its affiliated organisations, whose activities are currently banned, while they were preparing to stage a procession in the capital’s Banani area.

Police said the group gathered near the CM Pump on the Mahakhali-Tejgaon main road around 1:25pm, a police press release said. 

As police arrived, the protesters allegedly exploded several cocktails and tried to flee. Three were arrested from the spot, while another was detained by locals and handed over to police.

Police also seized evidence of the cocktail explosions from the scene.

The arrested were identified as Aslam Mia, 25; Md Ashikul Islam, 24; Md Mahfuzur Rahman Siam, 19; and Md Monir Hossain, 48.

Legal action against the four and other alleged organisers of the flash procession is underway, police said.
