DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 409 engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD) have been transferred through a lottery to ensure transparency, neutrality and discipline in transfers and postings.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, 152 Assistant Engineers (Civil) and 67 Assistant Engineers (E/M) were transferred through lottery in a programme held at PWD Bhaban in Segunbagicha today.
Besides, 135 Sub-Divisional Engineers (Civil) and 55 Sub-Divisional Engineers (E/M) were also transferred.
Among the Assistant Engineers, 100 were transferred or posted to offices in Dhaka Division, 20 to Rajshahi, 34 to Chattogram, 20 to Khulna, 12 to Barishal, 7 to Sylhet, 9 to Mymensingh and 17 to Rangpur.
Of the Sub-Divisional Engineers, 79 were posted to Dhaka Division, 18 to Rajshahi, 32 to Chattogram, 20 to Khulna, 10 to Barishal, 9 to Sylhet, 7 to Mymensingh and 15 to Rangpur.
Additional Secretary Md Sarwar Alam and senior PWD officials attended the lottery.
Earlier, 767 Sub-Assistant Engineers (Civil) were transferred through lottery on July 30, while 254 Sub-Assistant Engineers (E/M) were transferred on August 3.
