DHAKA, Aug 16, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury has expressed deep grief at the death of veteran journalist and former Joint Secretary of the National Press Club Nurul Hasan Khan.
In a condolence message, the state minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
The state minister said Nurul Hasan Khan was a dedicated and professional journalist.
His contribution to objective news reporting and improving the standards of journalism was undeniable, he added.
Senior journalist Nurul Hasan Khan died of cancer while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital this afternoon.
Born in Netrokona, Khan served as the chief reporter of the Dainik Dinkal and worked with distinction at various organizations during his long career.
He was a former Joint Secretary of the JPC and was associated with the Dhaka Reporters Unity from the time of its establishment.
Alongside journalism, Khan raised voices on various important national issues at different times.
In 2021, he was among the 2,582 journalists who issued a joint statement demanding advanced medical treatment for former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
