3-day winter chess festival begins in DU

DHAKA, Jan 1, 2025 (BSS) – A three-day winter chess festival has started at Teachers-Students Center (TSC) games room of Dhaka University.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated the winter chess festival as the chief guest today.

Dhaka University Chess Club (DUCC) has organized the winter chess festival marking its 38th founding anniversary. DUCC President Tanvir Alam presided over the opening event while general secretary Imran Sharif Shuvo conducted it.

Two competitions will be held during the festival. ‘Dhaka University Chess Championship’ will be held today and tomorrow with participation of the DU students. Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman Memorial Open Rapid Chess Tournament will be held on January 3 and it is open for all.
