Brothers earn third win in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2025 (BSS)- Spirited Brothers Union Club recorded their third win in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football defeating Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club by 3–0 goals in a match held at Shaheed Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Friday.

In the proceeding, Gambian forward Mustapha Drammeh, Senegalese midfielder Cheikh Sene and forward Sazzad Hossain scored one goal apiece for Brothers Union Club who led the first half by 3-0 goals. 

Mustapha opened an account scoring the first goal for Brothers early in the 10th minute while Sene scored the second goal for the winners’ in the 34th minute of the match.

Sazzad completed the tally scoring the third goal for Brothers Union in the 42nd minute of the match.   

After the breather, Brothers Union Club however got several scoring opportunities but failed to extend their lead further in the remaining proceeding.  

With the day’s victory, the all orange Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union Club raised their tally to 11 points from six matches while Fakirerpool’s stand remained at their previous collection of three points playing the same number of outings.

Brothers Union Club will play their next match against Dhaka Wanderers Club on January 10 while Fakirerpool will play against holders Bashundhara Kings on the same day. 

Earlier, Brothers Union Club beat Bangladesh Police Football Club 2-1, played 1-1 draw with Fortis Football Club, blanked Chittagong Abahani Limited 2-0, lost to Rahmatganj by 3-1 goals played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Kings.

While Fakirerpool went down 2-0 defeat to Abahani Limited Dhaka, suffered 4-1 defeat to Bangladesh Police FC, lost 3-0 to Fortis Football Club, beat Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals and suffered a 6-1 defeat to Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society.

In the remaining sixth round matches tomorrow (Saturday), table topper Mohammedan face Chittagong Abahani Limited at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh and Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society take on Dhaka Wanderers Club at Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Both the matches kick off at 2.45 pm.
