Fortis force Abahani to split points in BPL

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2025 (BSS)-Fortis Football Club forced Abahani Limited to split points when their match ended in tame goalless draw in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the capital on Friday. 

With the day’s outcome, Abahani Limited collected 13 points from six matches while Fortis Football Club also bagged six points playing the same number of matches.

Abahani will play their next match against Chittagong Abahani Limited on Jan 11 while Fortis will meet Bangladesh Police Football Club on the same day.   

Earlier, Abahani Limited Dhaka beat Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club by 2-0 goals in their league opening match, edged past Dhaka Wanderers Club by 1-0 goal in their second match, lost to arch rival Mohammedan by 1-0 goal and defeated holders Bashundhara Kings by 1-0 goal and beat Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-0 goals.

While Fortis Football Club suffered 3-1 defeat to Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society in their league opening match, played out to a 1-1 goal draw with Brothers Union Club, managed a 3-0 win over Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club, shared point playing out to a 1-1 goal draw with Dhaka Wanderers Club and lost to Mohammedan by 1-0 goal.

In the remaining sixth round matches tomorrow (Saturday), table topper Mohammedan face Chittagong Abahani Limited at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh and Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society take on Dhaka Wanderers Club at Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj.

Both the matches kick off at 2.45 pm.
