Zarif, Halima emerges champion in V-Day tennis

DHAKA, Jan 3, 2025 (BSS)- Zarif Abrar of Army Officers Club and Halima Jahan 
of Bangladesh Krira Shikkkha Prothistan (BKSP) emerged champion in the men's 
and women's singles and doubles events respectively in the Shahjalal Islami 
Bank Victory Day Tennis Tournament held at the National Tennis Complex in the 
city's Ramna on Friday. 

In the men's singles final, Zarif Abrar defeated Md Rustom Ali of American 
Club 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to win the title while in the women's singles final, 
BKSP's Halima Jahan defeated her teammate Subarna Khatun 6-2, 6-1 to win the 
title.

In the men's doubles final, Rustam Ali and Milan Hossain pair of American 
Club defeated Hanif Munna and Mahadi Hasan Alvi pair of Pasha 6-3, 7-6 to win 
the title.

In the women's doubles final, Sushmita Sen and Sumaiya Akhtar pair of 
Jhalkathi Tennis Club defeated BKSP's Subarna Khatun and Jannat Ferdous pair 
6-1, 7-5 to win the title.

Youth and Sports Secretary Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi was the chief guest in the 
final and distributed the prizes.

Mohammad Yunus, vice chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank PlC was present there 
as a special guest.

A total cash reward of Taka 3.35 lakh and certificates were awarded to the 
winning players.
